We’re just two weeks away from an afternoon of fun, community, and classic British charm at our WI-Themed Summer Social Event, taking place on Sunday 29th June — and you’re invited!
Join us in the New Hall and garden at Poppleton Methodist Church, where the festivities will officially begin at 3:30pm, opened by none other than the Lord Mayor, accompanied by members of the Civic Party.
Inspired by the spirit of Calendar Girls, our fabulous Social Committee is preparing a mouth-watering spread of homemade cakes and scones, served with hot and cold refreshments. These treats will be available for a modest donation, with all proceeds going to support the society.
There’s plenty more in store for the afternoon:
-
A tombola featuring brilliant prizes
-
Homemade jams and chutneys for sale
-
A light-hearted “Guess the Name of the Bear” game
-
A hamper raffle filled with delights
And if you’re handy with a whisk, why not enter our Victoria Sponge Competition? The Lord Mayor will be judging – so bring your best bake and show off your skills!
This event is open to everyone, and we’d love to see as many friendly faces as possible. To help us plan for the day, we kindly ask that you register your interest in advance.
And if you’re already attending the Calendar Girls: THE MUSICAL launch, you’re more than welcome to stay on and join us for the social!
