In 2025, York Musical Theatre Company had the absolute joy of bringing Sister Act: The Musical to the Joseph Rowntree Theatre, and what a show it was!

From the very first note to the final standing ovation, our production was bursting with energy, laughter, and the kind of soul-lifting music that had audiences dancing in their seats.

Our cast delivered show-stopping performances, led by a powerhouse Deloris Van Cartier, who lit up the stage with her charisma and powerhouse vocals. The fabulous nuns of our convent choir took audiences on a musical journey filled with gospel, disco, and Motown-inspired hits, including “Raise Your Voice,” “Fabulous, Baby!” and the electrifying “Take Me to Heaven.”

The laughter was non-stop, the harmonies were heavenly, and the energy in the theatre was electric. We transformed our stage into a dazzling sanctuary of song and spirit, capturing the heart of this much-loved musical while making it uniquely our own. Our audiences embraced the fun, the heart, and the uplifting message of sisterhood, leaving every performance on a high.
